We organise a variety of events ranging from boot camps, hackathons to several competitions on trading, investing, blockchain, and other diverse fields of Finance
The fest was inaugurated with a speaker session by Mr. Ashwini Tewari, Managing Director at State Bank of India. He addressed students on India’s economic growth. With extensive experience and strategic foresight, he provided insights beyond the current economic landscape, focusing on post-Covid recovery.

Mr. Vijay Kedia shared real-world investment approaches and astute strategies, while Mr. Anuj Singhal, Managing Editor of CNBC Awaaz, provided insights into financial reporting and analysis. Together, they offered a comprehensive perspective on wealth creation in the Indian stock market, including practical guidance for individuals on their wealth-building journey.
Under the expert guidance of Mr. Ujjwal Kumar, Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income at Nomura, attendees explored the intricate world of
fixed-income securities and currency markets. The session emphasized their global significance and provided valuable insights into investment strategies and risk management.
Trade-A-Thon is a trading simulation competition that aims to provide participants with hands-on experience
simulating real Indian stock market scenarios through a broker's platform. It helped participants have a practical understanding of the Indian stock market and encouraged them to engage in active learning and research within the financial market domain. The winners were rewarded with cash prizes and trading courses to further
improve their skills.
Strategy Wars is a simulated news-based dynamic trading game in which participants need to bid on various asset classes available by making sense of the information displayed to them. The provides the students with an entry, into the field of finance, consulting, and analytics without the requisite of any technical jargon.
Finance Quiz is a finance-themed quiz aiming to test participants' knowledge in three key domains: Equity Markets, Personal Finance, and Global Economics. The questions were designed to assess the understanding of students in these domains and impart knowledge. The quiz consisted of three rounds.
For the final round, the top 10 teams
competed in a buzzer-style format, with the top 3 teams presented with exclusive goodies.
The hands-on workshop, in association with the Upsurge Club, focused on options trading. Taught by Ms. Jyoti Budhia—an options-trading trainer with NSE, BSE, and NISM—it covered basics, option concepts, and real-time strategy application.
Screening an educational documentary “Too Big To Fail.” Each student received a thorough handbook explaining financial terms from “investment bank” to “credit default swaps.” Complex concepts were verbally explained during the movie, and a trivia competition concluded the session, with winners receiving books on investing and personal finance.
The workshop held in association with the Upsurge Club and taught by Mr. Vivek Gadodia, provided hands-on algorithmic trading experience for students, teaching them to program and implement trading strategies. This practical exposure empowered quantitative finance enthusiasts to participate confidently in future competitions and apply their technical knowledge.
“Pathways to Sustainable Economy: A Banking and Finance Perspective” conference, organized by the Finance Club and the Department of Economics in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India, gathered experts to discuss financial innovation and sustainability. The esteemed speakers including Dr. Sangita Misra, Director of Monetary Policy at the Reserve Bank of India; Prakash Kumar, Chief General Manager at SIDBI; and Prof. Thenmozhi, Head of the Department of Management Studies at IIT Madras, shared insights on topics like financial inclusion, fintech, and sustainable economics, impacting students’ understanding and research opportunities in finance.
FinSearch is a research-oriented program with the aim of promoting exploration, research, and enhancing financial knowledge. The event is seeing participation from 350+ teams and 60+ mentors.
In association with Nobias, Equity Research was a week-long stock-picking and analysis competition. It ended with an opportunity to pitch the project to industry experts from ICICI Securities and Edelweiss Asset Management Company,
who assessed and reviewed the submissions. The top 3 teams were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
The competition attracted colossal participation, with 350+ teams registering for the competition.
In association with AlphaGrep Securities, AlphaVerse Premier League provided students with a practical and engaging opportunity to explore quantitative finance. Over three weeks, participants learned to create alphas from scratch using AlphaGrep’s platform. The top 10 teams received cash prizes worth INR 2 Lakhs, and outstanding performers were considered for consultant opportunities with AlphaGrep Securities.
Organized a Trading Competition in collaboration with IMC Trading, a firm based in Amsterdam. Students were given a problem statement based on which they had to devise algorithms and investment strategies. The algorithms were coded on the company's platform. These strategies were later tested in live markets. Prizes worth Rs. 110,000 were distributed among the winners.
In collaboration with QuantHive, an Algorithmic Trading Competition was organized wherein students gained practical exposure to algorithmic trading and quantitative finance, guided by industry experts. The 24-hour hackathon allowed participants to create and deploy trading algorithms, even for beginners with no programming experience. Informative workshops prepared students for the competition’s two stages, drawing over 400 participants aiming for prizes worth Rs. 400,000+.
Collaborated with Jane Street to host “Estimathon,” a fun-based math game for first and second-year undergraduate students. The Jane Street team also provided mentorship to students interested in quantitative finance, sharing valuable insights from their trading experiences.
In collaboration with the Economics Association, IIT Bombay and Institute of Risk Management, the Game of Enterprise Risk, a national in-person business game competition was organized. Teams made decisions under pressure to safeguard a dummy company against various risks and crises.

An internship and job festival in collaboration with the Placement Cell was conducted where all Cryptonite partners provided jobs and internships to students in the Web3 domain. Created over 35+ offers with stipends crossing Rs 2,00,000 per month.

In collaboration with DSG Consumer Partners, Mr. Saksham Kotiya, from DSG’s investment team, provided insights into VC firms’ roles and career opportunities. The session covered startup assessment processes and explained terms like Expected MOIC and Current DPI.

Collaborated with WorldQuant to introduce students to crafting their own trading strategies. The first session of the “Pathways in Finance” series, Corporate Careers in Finance provided insights into diverse opportunities within the finance industry. Led by alum Mr. Anant Gupta, Managing Director at Kedaara Capital, it highlighted roles from investment banking to venture capital and private equity. Students learned to navigate finance profiles and identify paths for career enhancement.
The second session of the “Pathways in Finance” series featured Mr. Harshit Mittal, an IITB SJSOM alum and Morgan Stanley analyst. He discussed post-graduate exams’ relevance in shaping finance careers and shared insights on clearing the CFA Level 3 exam. Students learned about various paths for higher education in finance, including MBA, MFin, CFA certifications, and specialized courses. The session empowered students to make informed career decisions.
Organized an online Q&A session in collaboration with Princeton University, featuring distinguished guests like Prof. Caio Almeida and Lindsay Bracken. The session explored financial mathematics, probability, and optimization, helping students make informed career decisions in quantitative finance, asset management, or economic analysis. Attendees gained insights into Princeton’s four-semester quantitative-focused program, preparing them for a promising future in finance.
The market-making session for quant placements explained the concept of market making and strategies for math games in interview preparation. Trading interns from Optiver and Jane Street provided insights. The session covered fundamental terminologies and mathematical concepts related to confidence intervals, probability, and guesstimates. Students also engaged in a practical simulation, gaining valuable insights into the game's dynamics and strategic approach.
Collaborated with Mirae Asset Management for an exclusive Mutual Funds session. Speakers included Mr. Shrinivas Khanolkar and Mr. Rahul Khatri. Students gained insights into early-stage investments, tax implications, and exit loads. The compounding effect in mutual funds was emphasized. Investment strategies from the company were discussed, and over 100+ students interacted with the speakers.
Hosted a session with Mr. Siddharth Bachhawat, Managing Director at Barclays, and Mrs. Smita Sahai, Head of Macroeconomics. The session simplified investment banking concepts, covering capital raising, financial advisory services, and complex transactions. Later, ten sophomore female students participated in an exclusive workshop at Barclays’ Mumbai office, gaining insights into investment bankers’ daily routines and live trading activities.
